Asker: Yes Steven it is about standards. Many thanks for your suggestion and Phil's input. It's a difficult one; 'lesser industrial standards' doesn't throw up anything convincing on Google, but I may have to opt for this phrase or something similar. Thanks again.

agree  philgoddard: Or 'industry' or 'manufacturing'. And yes, 'patrones' must mean 'standards' because the English word appears at the top.
