fallow Explanation: Could "fallow" work? Also the expression "lie in fallow", not reserved exclusively in the agricultural domain either! crop rotation and fallowing Explanation: Generally, this IS crop rotation. However, the alternating pattern implies that the land is to be left fallow for a certain period (confirmed in Robert). So I suggest the above combination. Robert |
