We asked the client for an explanation and although they did not use the term "insert moulding", this is the conclusion we came to based on their explanation. So yes, please do suggest it.

I wanted more context so search your phrase exactly. I got hits from a single company and found "Komplett automation för pågjutning av plast på metall." If this is your context, my reading says they have screwed up on the Swedish.
This context involves 'insert molding' where the finished metal part is inserted into the plastic as the plastic is molded. So the plastic is not 'molded onto the metal.' Rather the metal is 'combined' with the plastic which is being molded. Yeah, its my spelling convention for molding! ;-)
