Die Dachkonstruktion als Traggerüst der Bedachung hat die Aufgabe, die aufliegende Isolierung und Deckung zu stützen. Konstruktion, Isolierung und Deckung bilden gemeinsam also das komplette Dach. Wenn die Dachkonstruktion durch Dachbinder stabilisiert wird, trägt das Dach die Bezeichnung "Binderdach".
