Malay term or phrase: tanah kat
A business is established with a wide range of activities, including mining and excavation of minerals, nickel ....sand and 'tanah kat'. I realise this is literally 'cut land' but that is meaningless in English, so I am at a loss to work out what is meant.

Can anyone help with a good English term for 'tanah kat'?

Yes, you are correct, it was not a typo, just--as you said--blurry letters that the scanner picked up incorrectly.
