任(nin): in charge of,
天(ten): heaven, has something to do with god
堂(do): something beyond earth
To put all the words together, a vaccum, place and/or concept that transcends whatever exists on earth, which can expand without an end to it as much as god allows them to expand. The name also matches the concept of SF.
