French term or phrase: Refixation
Can anybody help with the terms refixé and refixation?

"Avant le passage à la norme IFRS 9, le Groupe a refixé des dettes couvertes par des swaps receveur taux fixe payeur taux variable par la mise en place de swap inverses".

The heading in a section of the accounts in an annual financial report is "Swaps de refixation de la dette variabilisée".

I can't see anywhere that the terms refix and refixation are in use. Memsource/Phrase isn't keen on "variabilisation" either but I do think that exists, albeit with the US spelling.

Thanks in advance. This is my first time posting here, so apologies if I have the protocol wrong.

refix(ing)
Explanation:
The short term refixing amount reflects the nominal amount of debt and swaps for which interest rates have to be refixed within the next twelve months.

Other debt managers rely on the share of debt with floating rate and/or interest rate to be refixed in a given period.

So maybe 'the group refixed debt' and 'swaps refixing variable-rate debt'.

neutral  Francois Boye: Swaps are reset, not refixed.// when swaps are reset, interest rates change and affect the debt service.

-> You haven't read the context properly. It says debt, not swaps.

neutral  Daryo: "'swaps used for the purpose of turning variable-rate debt into fixed-rate debt' is the right idea, but there's no point translating only one word - this whole title is one term.

Explanation:
There is talk of settling debts. I saw that it can also be translated into English "Refixation".

Explanation:
R

Reset Swap

An interest rate swap agreement with the floating rate payment based on the reference index rate at the end of the interest period rather than the rate at the start of the period. A floating rate receiver will prefer a reset swap when a rising yield curve (rising forward rate curve) implies higher rates in the future. Also called Arrears Swap, Back End Set Swap, LIBOR In-Arrears Swap, In-Arrears Swap (diagram).

The floating rate side of a vanilla swap, LIBOR, or another short-term rate, resets on each reset date. If the three-month LIBOR is the base rate, the floating rate payment under the swap occurs in three months, and then the then-current three-month LIBOR will determine the rate for the next period, three months in this example. For an arrears swap, the current period's rate sets in three months to cover the period just ended. The rate for the second three-month period sets six months into the contract, and so forth.

restructuring

Explanation:
The standard term is to "restructure debt" and the noun is most often "debt restructuring" although you do find "restructuration" as well

As you can't find the "refixation" in use, just go for the safest term and interpretation in this case
