Oh, and in case anyone is wondering, hauteur is just one of those French idiosyncracies, as seen through English eyes. Maybe it's because they don't have a word for 'shallow' that they choose to use a word that does have a distinct opposite. Similarly with grass, which is never long but high ;-)
