Aeroplan trup-gjerë si Airbus A340 dhe Boeing 777, mund të bartin qindra udhëtar dhe disa ton mallra, dhe mund të udhëtojnë në distanca deri në 13 mijë kilometra. Avionët reaktiv posedojnë shpejtësi fluturuese të madhe (700 to 900 km/h) dhe shpejtësi të lartë të uljes dhe ngritjes (150 to 250 km/h).
