Well, I think there will be a new category of communication in the future: broken communications because of lack of MT service at a certain point in time. Oh wow. This is going to create such an amount of business for us translators when frustated user of MT get fed up and decide that it is time to set things right once for all!!

I don't think anybody in sound mind was ever taking machine translation seriously. I use it myself sometimes for very rare languages, mostly for cooking recipes that look great. I wasn't able to cook anything yet, following those translated recipes. I hope the food will not explode.
