After having seen more complaining in the forum than positive comments on clients and especially agencies, I realize that translators, just like clients, are in need of education.
I will not try and teach something new to colleagues most of whom have more experience than I, but I really believe that this could be an extremely handy tool in a translator\'s life. I will not try and teach something new to colleagues most of whom have more experience than I, but I really believe that this could be an extremely handy tool in a translator\'s life. It also seems that most of us are not aware of the Translator\'s Bill of Rights and I cannot stress enough to look out for ourselves and each other by promoting this useful document.
Please take a look and see for yourselves how much trouble and time this can save you all.
I also would like to invite my fellow translators to participate in this forum by telling us what they know about translator\'s rights in different countries, who they can turn to for remedy in case of disrespect/abuse and how all this translates internationally (countries outside of some of the mentioned regulations, etc.). I think that if we put our heads together, we can come up with a lot of solutions to put a foot down and be respected. The Bill is truly inspirational and could give us all some large-scale ideas on the improvement of our condition.
