The following is an entry in a library archive:

"ОПИСАНИЕ рукописей неизданных произведений [автора]" №ХХХХХ

I've no idea what term English-speaking librarians use in this case.

Соглашусь с Анжелой - в качестве альтернативного решения можно попробовать bibliographic notes/references (...on/of manuscripts of unpublished works by...)

определение понятия "cataloging" - это "bibliographic description". Можно, в принципе, так и написать, чтобы не повторять catalogue-cataloging.

вообще-то в библиотечном жаргоне это будет cataloging of unpublished works etc. Только получится масло масляное. Description - это все-таки не совсем то, что вам нужно.
