In a floor plan, the window/door from the balcony into the living room is called FIX--what is a FIX window or door; an acronym for something. I have looked and looked! Thanks

a picture window, a window that cannot be opened.

There are many types of windows.

Picture windows are parmanently fixed windows that you cannnot open or close. Japanses for Fixed or Picture window is: 固定窓、ピクチャ窓

Casement windows swing open and close sideway. In Japanese: 開き窓、観音開きの窓

Awning windows swing open and close upward. In Japanese:オーニング窓

Double or single hung widnows side open and close. In Japanese:上げ下げ窓、ダブルハング窓、シングルハング窓
