How can I add the strikethrough attribute to text in a forum post?

You don't Apr 26, 2022

As far as I can see, you don't. Inline CSS syntax seems to be disabled, and the legacy HTML supported in forum posts has no 'strike' tag.

S̶t̶r̶i̶k̶e̶T̶h̶r̶o̶u̶g̶h̶ text is often used to show that something is unavailable, wrong or deleted.

There's a website manytools.org/facebook-twitter/strikethrough-text that helps generate s̶t̶r̶i̶k̶e̶t̶h̶r̶o̶u̶g̶h̶ ̶t̶e̶x̶t̶.

We can also do 'funny' things like this transparent, fixed logo, but this could mess up the pages, so I'm not posting the code for it. It's only because this is an old technical topic with only a few 'geeks'.

But the Background property does no harm.

This code can easily be reproduced by quoting your message

Not only for geeks Aug 14, 2023

That was a very "geeky" discussion topic. ‎😃

Nevertheless, I think many translators whould benefit from learning a bit more about basic HTML and other geeky syntax rules.

  • Moving each < br/ > tag before the period at the end of a sentence
  • Adding spaces after < a > or before < / a> tags

I also corrected numerous invalid URL slugs. Translators would add spaces, apostrophes or accented letters to strings that are obviously meant to be part of an URL (strings like 357278-how_to_add_the_strikethrough_attribute)

Right, that was the first thing I did. Only then I realized how much easier it was to merely quote your comment.
