...for a client who is here in the United Sates, on another book translation from Spanish. I find that the work has been helping me smooth over the reality, somewhat, that many people have disappeared permanently, at least physically, from my life this past year, for whatever reason related to the damn virus.

A small (max 10) gathering in my house. Some are staying over, the rest will have to drive off with their mouths half full of grapes (it's a Spanish custom to eat one grape on every chime at midnight), at the curfew kicks in at 12:30!

Ontario's in lockdown until Jan. 23. There is no prospect of visiting with or inviting close friends. Christmas was also done alone with immediate family. We'll undoubtedly be up until midnight. The look back and forward is sort of a thing. Though reading this thread I have a bit of a hankering for Fledermaus. It's been a few years.

In observance of Italian tradition I will be eating lentils. Each lentil is a coin. The more lentils you eat, the more money you will make in 2021.
