Most of my invoices are sent out as PDFs together with the translation... Regarding other administrative tasks, it is extremely variable (more time-consuming every three months because of VAT declaration).

Probably not eough, though it always feels like too much. | | | Claire Cox Verenigd Koninkrijk Local time: 07:45 Frans naar Engels + ...
Invoicing itself is less than an hour as for most clients I add the figures to a spreadsheet throughout the month and then just send out one invoice to each client at the end of the month. However, if you assume that administrative tasks include quoting for jobs and negotiating with clients, then obviously the figure varies hugely from month to month.... | |

Pay someone to do the invoicing. | Dec 1, 2012 |
Since I run another business as well as my translating, I use the same accountancy services. This means that I free up my time for my own activities. Correct, hitch-free invoicing is part of the service I must offer my clients, and any mistakes reflect badly on the quality I offer them. As for "administrative", I wonder if that includes filing. Vital to do this efficiently and accessibly. Otherwise you waste so much time looking for things (my case in my early days). ▲ Collapse | | | Allison Wright (X) Portugal Local time: 07:45
Probably 4 - 8 hours. About one hour per week, in other words. It really does depend on the mix of clients for that month, and the size of the individual jobs. To me, administration includes invoicing, filing, desk tidying, reminding one particular client in advance that the 30 days is almost up, and that bit of work required to keep my tax records up to date, to prevent the end of year headache. | | | 2-3 hours per week | Dec 3, 2012 |
Which includes the quarterly taxes, which take a bit more time, and the annual taxes, which take several hours. Also, I keep the books for my husband's business as well. Monday is accounting day, and I don't bother dividing the time between accounts. | | | To report site rules violations or get help, contact a site moderator: You can also contact site staff by submitting a support request » Poll: How much time do you spend on invoicing/administrative tasks each month?
