Source text - German Der Krieg riss Alfred Hess brutal aus den wohlgeordneten Lebensumständen heraus. Wie Millionen andere. Er hatte Glück. Körperlich unversehrt kehrte er heim – und dennoch als veränderter Mann. Kriegs- und Nachkriegserlebnisse warfen ihn offensichtlich aus seiner bisherigen Lebensbahn. Das deutsche Kaiserreich war zusammengebrochen, die verfassungsgebende Nationalversammlung gründete eine Republik, die den Namen ihres Tagungsortes, der Stadt Weimar, trug. Undenkbar, dass das benachbarte Erfurt von all dem unberührt blieb.
1912 war Edwin Redslob erster hauptamtlicher Direktor des 1886 entstandenen Erfurter Museums geworden. Bis dahin lagen die Geschicke des Hauses in den Händen des Leiters des Stadtarchivs, der sich dem Museum nur nebenamtlich widmete. Redslob entwickelte einen Plan sinnvoller Sammeltätigkeit und sah das Museum mit Blick auf die benachbarten Residenzen und deren fürstliche Sammlungen vor allem zur Pflege der Moderne berufen. Entsprechend auch der eigenen Interessen legte er den Grundstein zur Sammlung von Kunstwerken damals lebender Künstler und verschaffte dem Haus durch erste Ausstellungen überregionale Aufmerksamkeit. Als er mit Alfred und Tekla Hess im Sommer 1918 Bekanntschaft machte, aus der eine tiefe Freundschaft wurde, gab es im Hause Hess kein einziges avantgardistisches Kunstwerk. Aber es gab dort viele Schuhe. Manches Paar tauschte Tekla ein, um ihrem neuen Freund Kartoffeln zu beschaffen. Redslob gelang es, dem aufgeschlossenen Schuhfabrikanten die Augen für die neue Kunstrichtung zu öffnen und in ihm einen regelrechten Strudel der Leidenschaft auszulösen. Das zeigte sich erst einmal ganz praktisch: Die Vorkriegsmöblierung flog aus dem Hause und wurde durch moderne Möbel und bald auch neue Bilder ersetzt. Denn – so erinnerte sich später sein Sohn Hans: „Mein Vater ... hatte genügend Phantasie, um die Wirklichkeit zu verstehen, und genügend Verstand, um der Phantasie zu folgen“.
Translation - English Alfred Hess had been brutally torn from the neat order of his life, just as millions of others had. He was lucky. Hess came home physically unaltered, yet he was a completely changed man. It appears that his experiences during and after the war threw him off course. The Kaiser’s German Reich had broken down and the constituent National Assembly founded a Republic bearing the name of its meeting place, the city of Weimar. It was unthinkable that the neighboring city of Erfurt could remain untouched by all of these events.
In 1912, Edwin Redslob had become the first full-time Director of the Erfurt Museum, which had been founded in 1886. Until his appointment, the museum had been led by the head of the municipal archives, who could only devote himself to it part-time. Redslob developed a wise collection strategy that focused on modern art and set the museum apart from the aristocratic residences of Erfurt, which had lordly collections of older pieces. In line with his own interests, Redslob laid the foundations for a collection of works by contemporary artists. His first exhibitions attracted national attention for the museum. His acquaintance with Alfred and Tekla Hess in the summer of 1918 developed into a deep friendship. When he met them, there was not a single avant-garde work of art in the Hess mansion. There were a lot of shoes, however. Tekla exchanged many a pair for potatoes to give to her new friend. Redslob was able to open the receptive shoe manufacturer’s eyes to a new direction in art and triggered a genuine storm of passion in him. This first became apparent in quite practical terms: the prewar furnishings disappeared, replaced by modern furniture and, soon, new paintings. As his son Hans recalled later, “My father [...] had enough fantasy to understand reality and enough understanding to follow fantasy.”

Source text - Spanish Los trabajadores sociales de Urgencias atienden anualmente, aproximadamente una media de 667 familias de pacientes que ingresan en estado crítico en el box de reanimación, procedentes de la vía pública, de su domicilio o de un establecimiento público.
Para muchos de estos pacientes, ni la ciencia, ni la tecnología llegan a tiempo, y frecuentemente se han de dar “malas noticias” a sus familiares.
Para mucha familias, la estancia en Urgencias significa un antes y un después en sus vidas. Tanto si hablamos de la pérdida de un ser amado, como si nos referimos a la adaptación que supone enfrentarse a las secuelas que se derivan de un diagnóstico.
La ejecución del protocolo exige conocimiento e implicación. A las familias que pasan por estas circunstancias, se les ofrece una intervención humanizada, que a la vez sea profesional y cercana.
El esfuerzo y la implicación que necesita esta intervención, repercutirá de manera positiva tanto en las familias, que se han sentido atendidas y comprendidas, como en el mismo profesional, porque al conseguir los objetivos propuestos al principio de la intervención, contribuye a mitigar el efecto del tan denominado bournout.
Como consecuencia de estos dos hechos, el hospital también sale beneficiado, porque la constatación de la ausencia de reclamaciones o quejas, son síntomas de calidad en la atención.
Translation - English Social workers in Spanish Accident and Emergency departments treat an annual total of approximately 667 families of patients admitted to resuscitation rooms in critical condition. These patients are brought in from the street, their homes or a public residence.
Neither science nor technology arrives in time for many of these patients, and someone must often break the news to their families.
For many families, their stay in casualty marks a turning point in their lives, whether it is from the loss of a loved one or from the adjustments that many must make when confronting the consequences of a diagnosis.
Execution of the protocol requires knowledge and involvement. The families going through this circumstance are offered a humanised intervention that is close and professional at the same time.
The effort and involvement required for this intervention will have positive repercussions not only for the family members who have been treated and listened to, but for the treating professional as well, who by achieving the proposed objectives for the intervention helps to mitigate the so-called burnout effect”.
These repercussions also benefit the hospital, as the verified absence of complaints is a result of quality in treatment.
