I grew up in Spain and became a fluent Spanish speaker, returning to the UK in my mid-twenties.

After I gained my BA in 1993 my Portuguese professor commissioned me to translate a volume of his poetry into English for a bilingual publication. 

I spent 11 years leading a sales office for a Spanish manufacturing company with factories in Spain and the UK. While conducting daily business in
Spanish, French and English, I was also a staff translator and interpreter for this multilingual business. 

Next, while working in various university administration roles (supporting teaching and research), I gained a master's degree in translation and became a freelance language services professional.
