Se otorga el presente reconocimiento de mención honorífica por haber hecho una excelente exposición y defensa de su informe técnico de residencia profesional titulado....
Nota: Se otorga dicho reconocimiento a una persona que ya es egresada de la carrera de ingeniería civil en México. El término residencia profesional lo había escuchado y leído más en médicos, pero no en ingenieros. Entiendo que esa residencia se realiza después de haber terminado los estudios, pero antes de obtener el título. Mi duda es como traducirlo al inglés.

In medicine in the UK, this would be 'placement/work placement'
