Russian term

сверхдальние броски

Russian to English Other Sports / Fitness / Recreation Basketball
Дебют заключительной четверти остался за гостями, у них опять пошли «трёхи» (к 34-й минуте они реализовали сверхдальние броски — 8/12).

This entire sentence seems impossible, but I am trying to get this term. So far I have:
"The first game for the tounament’s closing match’s quarter fell into the visiting team's hands, when they scored more 3-point shots, and at minute 34 they pumped passes to: 8/12."
Proposed translations (English)

Discussion

Konstantin Kisin May 1, 2006:
just FYI, in no way could this be called an alley oop or a lob. An alley oop is when one player throws the ball towards the basket and his teammate dunks it in just as it approaches the rim.
daniesza (asker) May 1, 2006:
Alley oop actually this could also be called a lob or alley oop, now that i check my notes! THANX A BUNCH ANYWAY!

And, I believe, you may simply use "three-pointers" instead of "3-point shots" above.

Probably, "by minute 34...". It's statistics of how good they were with their 3-pointers during 33 minutes of the game.

The Russian words mean literally "super-long-distance shots", but I'm not sure it sounds naturally. In fact, these are those incredible shots when they score throwing the ball over almost all the field.

agree Mikhail Kropotov : No Kirill, these are not incredible shots... It's sports writers trying to be witty :) The shots were simply long-distance, as you suggested to begin with :)

that was what I thought - simply `long-distance shots' :)
