playdough

Все рецепты пластелинов для детских игр основаны на муке, поэтому "на растительной основе" переводить не требуется.

Modelling Dough

the company Erich Krause calls its product "Modelling Dough" (see for eg. http://irecommend.ru/content/otlichnaya-zadumkavypolnennaya-... or http://iqtoy.ru/store/product/erich-krause-plastilin-myagkiy... possibly to avoid confusion with the brand name "Play Doh" owned by Hasbro (http://www.wragge.com/analysis_7074.asp#.UZvcf638tko)

interestingly enough, the word "пластилин" contains the idea of it being "plastic", which presumably makes necessary the addition of "на растительной основе" to emphasize its naturalness, whereas "play dough" contains the word "тесто", which is "vegetarian" in itself already.
Actually, the term in question sounds like a translation.
