Очень похоже, что новое дело будет скроено по прежним лекалам и сшито нитками того же цвета. Any suggestions, please?

(the new case is likely) to be as thin and easily seen through as...
"Сшито нитками того же цвета" must be an allusion to "шито белыми нитками", which could be rendered into English in different ways:
- to be too obvious, or too thin
- to be trumped up
- to be easily seen through, etc.
Since "кроить" and "шить" of the source refer to different parts of the same process, I wanted to offer a version that would more or less reflect this, but alas )) Mine is neither too idiomatic nor catchy, even if still workable.

The evidence will be cooked in exactly the same way it was in all other cases
They're probably saying the police made a habit of framing innocent people, and the evidence in this new case will also be fabricated, as always.
