atikah, i did some googling. pls see the addition in my answer. note: btw, regardless of # of sheets involved, the translation of "kuras" would still be "quire(s)".
Non-ProZ.com Jul 1, 2005:
thanks may. but in the doc it says "2 kuras..... 32 halaman", "3 kuras.... 48 halaman", "8.5 ... 136", so kuras here seems to be 16 sheets?? like how?

atikah,

- pls see CONNOTATION of Wiki definition below. from it one can deduce that \"quire\" is not only used to indicate exactly 1/20 or 24-25 sheets. a bunch of similar type and size paper is also referred to as a quire.

- from Wikipedia; search: paper, quire [BOLD mine, for emphasis]

* quire — a measure of paper. A quire is a set of 24 or 25 sheets of paper of the same size and quality. It might also be thought of as 1/20 of a ream. However, the CONNOTATION is A SMALL COLLECTION OF SHEETS OF PAPER of the SAME SIZE and the SAME QUALITY.
