Japanese term

ユニット製造

Japanese to English Bus/Financial
会社自身もユニット製造のベンチャー企業からこれらを組込んだシステム機器メーカーへの変身を目指している。

This is from the same text as my last question. Clearly literally this means "unit-producing", but I cannot think of how to translate it in this context.

Selected

a venture enterprise manufacturing products on a per-unit basis

Without knowing the company background, it sounds as if it is aiming to ramp up its line to the mass-production stage, as opposed to manufacturing products in single units. I don't see why you shouldn't keep the word 'unit' in the English.

venture firms producing individual units

Just my opinion here,
The firm itself seeks (or aims) to change from a venture enterprise handling individual unit production (or just "unit production") to a system device (instrument) manufacturer that assembles these parts.

Just a guess.
