Office of the Minister
You can't go far wrong with that.
Ministry of Welfare and Social Services
Office of the Minister
I think that will do it. You might be able to find some stationery on the web if you search but if you haven't got time, I would just go with that.

It could be Department of Welfare and Social Services but it would still be Office of the Minister. The UK Social Services administration changes their name regularly, so if it is UK, you would need to know what year to know what the official name was.

You didn't ask me what it was called in Israel. You specifically asked for U.K. and/or U.S. in your question. I must confess I was wondering why, having Hebrew letterheading in front of you, you needed to know what the English translation was in the U.K./U.S.A.

Note from asker:
Thanks! Just for your info, the Israeli formal office title is: MINISTRY OF SOCIAL AFFAIRS AND SOCIAL SERVICES |
When translating an official government letter, I think the tendency is and should be to translate the name of the office as it is called in the source country. If it referred to a British or other parallel office, then you are right. |
You are right, I specifically asked for לשכת השר in UK or US (I now know I need UK) and my previous comment was about the name of the ministry itself. Nonetheless, I have the letter head in Hebrew and am a bit overloaded so have not the time to look for the English copy. If Office of the Minister is the UK term,, then your answer is perfect, and I thank you for your help! |

It's on a letter head:
משרד הרווחה והשירותים החברתיים
לשכת השר
