German term

zweites Bein

German to English Tech/Engineering Electronics / Elect Eng
Hello,

I am translating a grid connection contract and stumped on the phrase 'zweites Bein' in this sentence in terms of the connection between substations:

Der Anschluss der beiden Umspannstationen X und X erfolgt mittels eines Doppelkabelsystems aus dem Umspannwerk X X und einem zweiten Bein, welches mittels eines Doppelkabelsystems an die Umspannstation X in X angeschlossen wird.

'Leg' cannot be right and 'connection' seems vague (although cannot be wrong).

Thank you in advance.

Not my subject, hence the 3, but...

Substation AC auxiliary systems are typically used to supply loads ... The system should trip when a second leg on the system is grounded.

Note from asker:
Thank you so much for these links. The context suggest 'leg' is in fact a sensible solution. :)
