@ All Think at long last we`re getting there, however me thinks it`s time for a glass of wine and I`ll resume normal service either later on or in the morning.

We wrote it at the same time :-)

Indeed, I believe the comma is misplaced.
philgoddard Mar 5, 2020:
The other possibility is that the comma shouldn't be there and it's "carotide supérieure", but I don't know enough about anatomy to know which makes more sense.
Bashiqa (asker) Mar 5, 2020:
@ Phil Reading it again, this makes sense, as though upper was added as an afterthought to clarify the position. Quite possible for the surgeon to be thinking out loud.
philgoddard Mar 5, 2020:
I'm not a native speaker, so I could be wrong, but I think my suggestion may be correct.
Bashiqa (asker) Mar 5, 2020:
@ Phil No, the text is quite clear, no obvious errors.
philgoddard Mar 5, 2020:
Should it read "bord supérieure libre"?

upper [carotid]

Le "supérieure" ne se réfère pas au "bord" (ou alors il y a une faute d'orthographe, ce qui est bien sûr possible). Je pense que la virgule mal placée. On devrait lire:

un anévrisme de 15 mm de plus grand axe développé sur le bord libre de la carotide supérieure, avec un collet environ 5 mm de diamètre.

"carotide supérieure" est peu utilisé en français, mais "upper carotid" semble être beaucoup plus commun.

upper

Each vessel passes obliquely upward, from behind the sternoclavicular joint to the level of the upper border of the thyroid cartilage, where it divides.
