English term

bonnet

English to Turkish Other Religion Islamic Dress
Greetings

In the newspaper Sözcü (Kemalist) today it says that the president’s wife is not wearing her ‘bone’ (literally 'bonnet') under her headscarf.

Since we are talking about Islamic dress I should imagine that you have another word for this most likely from Arabic.

Many thanks

Simon

bone

Yes, same exactly.
Such women wear it under scarf, probably to collect the hairs up for pure and proper combination and appearance under the headscarf :)

agree Özden Arıkan : here it can be seen inside Deniz Baykal's headscarf: http://tinyurl.com/5wbk78 :-)))
