Durante el tiempo de estudio (esas 2 o 3 horas al día) hay que establecer descansos regulares para despejarse y tomar nuevas fuerzas para el siguiente "asalto".
Cada hora se puede establecer un breve descanso de 5 minutos.
Hay estudiantes que no realizan estas breves paradas pensando que así aprovechan más el tiempo pero les ocurre justo al contrario, sin darse cuenta van acumulando cansancio disminuyendo notablemente su nivel de rendimiento.
"Estas breves pausas hay que aprovecharlas para salir del cuarto y estirar un poco las piernas.

Ojalá me equivoque y sea una de las otras dos respuestas que ya han emitido, pero me temo que no. Viendo las otras estrategias que menciona el texto (ejercicios de respiración, y pensamiento positivo) no me cabe duda de que body breaks quiere decir ejercicios de respiración.

Y aunque break (que también significa descanso) esté en plural no quiere decir que se refiera a eso, a una pausa. Si quisieran decir pausa, habrían dicho regular breaks.

El texto se refiere, pues, a lo que yo digo, y es una prueba más de que en occidente quieren convetir las escuelas en centros de relajación donde imparten talleres de autoayuda.

In the United States and Canada, body breaks have nothing to do with relaxation, for the contrary, the idea is to make the child get up from his/her desk and MOVE, below references:
A good body break should include:

From Mariette Baker-McDermid: For my Grade 6 Health class I had the students brainstorm a list of 10 exercises (we did it at the beginning of each unit). Then we randomly picked a card from a deck of cards.... and multiplied the number X 10...That is how many of the exercise we would do.... This happened about 20 minutes into the 60 minute class.... The kid loved it (wall pushups, marching around the room, neck rotations......are some examples)

. Like adults, children need "body breaks" that will get them moving. To deny children the opportunity to be physically active, on a daily basis, is to deny them the stress release breaks that allow them to be more attentive and focused on learning in their academic classes.

Fun Brain and Body Breaks
My kiddos are really enjoying these "Action Stories". They are stories you read aloud while students get a chance to take a quick brain and body break to act them out. I was so lucky to come across this laying in the copy room of my school... to the staff member who found it first... THANK YOU!
