Hi!
I found this term in several blogs, but I can't seem to find an equivalent in Spanish (Spain). I get the explanation of what it is (deceleration braking while burning propellent to get into the right orbit I guess?) but I definetely need a hand here. It's not a scientific translation but it features spaceships and such terminology, so I need to get i right.
"The Dragon now consists of only the landing capsule with the four astronauts inside. A very long braking burn is next: the thrusters fire for over 16 minutes to decelerate and put the spacecraft on a path to splashdown off the coast of Florida."

En el espacio la única forma de desacelerar una nave es aplicar una fuerza en dirección contraria al movimiento que lleva, y eso se logra prendiendo el/los motor(es) necesario(s) para contrarrestar el movimiento; un burn, una ignición.
Creo que es seguro usar frenado, sin más; si te parece muy simple, ignición para frenado (encendido de motores para frenado puede ser muy descriptivo pero es quizás muy largo y ahonda en una acción que, por lógica, es redundante explicar).

maniobra de desaceleración
A braking burn is a type of orbital maneuver meant to change the orbit of a spacecraft. In orbital mechanics this type of event is called a coplanar maneuver and is commonly referred to as a Delta V or 𝚫v.
The purpose is primarily to reduce the speed of the spacecraft so that it looses kinetic energy and thus drop in height. Through a series of burns the spacecraft altitude is lowered enough so that Earth's gravity will cause the craft to enter the atmosphere.
A literal translation of the term would be "quemadura de frenado", but a better term would be "maniobra de desaceleración" ("deceleration maneuver" en inglés) o "maniobra coplanar de desaceleración" aunque la segunda puede ser un poco técnica para el público en general.
In theory, you could also use "maniobra de descenso" since your reference talks about coming back to earth and the breaking burn is part of the landing process, but usually that terms indicates maneuvers associated with the final landing sequence.
