agree Monica Sandor : yes, more specific sub-fields of natural science; includes more than biology, I suppose (eg geology, chemistry, etc.)

thank you
agree Demosthene : SVT is an option a student can choose when passing his French Baccalauréat. It almost replaces the old name of Sciences Expérimentales and mainly oriented towards Physics, Chemistry, Biology and Natural Sciences

thank you; SVT actually starts at "sixième" (age 11) and IS mainly biology (natural environment, food chains...)

Biology, Natural Science

It is the fashionable name given to Sciences in the French Educaion Nationale; same "Sciences Humaines" was before known as "Histoire-Géographie"!

In a College (Junior High School) it is still called \"Sciences Naturelles\" in the first form, then turns to SVT after. It covers Biology, Geology and what else, so \"Natural Science\" on a time-table is quite enough!

Life science and geology

As the name in French implies, this is mainly biology, that the common mood now calls life science. The difference between biology and SVT is the inclusion of a number of concepts of geology, taught by the same teachers with the current organization of French teaching, just like History and Geography are most often taught together.
I don't know of a similar common concept in English, French tried to associate in a similar vocabulary two rather different sciences, but these are utimately "biology and geology", that could be an acceptable translation also.
