Action TCO

French to English Bus/Financial Engineering: Industrial business partnership

This is a term used in a contract in relation to a collaboration between two, the aim of which is to benefit both of them. I cannot think of how to translate it into English. The contract does provide a definition, however:

désigne une action, discutée de bonne foi entre les Parties, après prise en compte par les Parties de leurs éventuelles contraintes respectives (techniques notamment) et impacts économiques associés, et générant une valeur après déduction des coûts et investissements associés, pour l’une et/ou l’autre des Parties concernées (« Valeur de l’Action TCO » définie ci-dessous) grâce à la collaboration de l’autre Partie.

I initially thought TCO was total cost of ownership but that doesn't seem to work in this case? I was thinking something along the lines of "value creation plan", "value creation measures"?

Aidan Honeyman (asker) Feb 8: So Action does indeed mean project in this case, it is just the TCO part that is the issue it seems. "TCO Project"? "value creation project"? I will also do more research on total cost of ownership.

Bourth Feb 6: Contrary to Asker's assertion that Total Cost of Ownership 'doesn't seem to work in this case', I believe it might. Extending operation before shutdown (and all the resulting knock-on costs for the steel producer) and servicing (presumably at the cost of the gas supplier) by 33% will have a considerable effect on the Total Cost of Ownership, one that can indeed be measured in financial terms, I imagine, to determine the valeur de l'action.
philgoddard Feb 6: Thanks, Emmanuella So the contract is between two companies, one making steel and the other industrial gases, and 'action' means project. 'L’Action TCO N°4 vise à étendre d’une année le cycle d’entretien programmé de chacun des oxytonnes de l’usine de production des gaz de l’air... pour le porter ainsi de 3 ans à 4 ans.' 'Oxytonnes' could be the O in TCO. Or TCO could be an internal abbreviation, an arbitrary set of letters that we're unlikely to guess. And 'total cost of ownership' is not out of the question. If they're maintaining the plant less often, that would reduce their costs. It might help to know what TCO projects 1 to 3 are.
