German term

Wr.

German to English Social Sciences General / Conversation / Greetings / Letters
This comes from a letter, written in 1940 in Vienna:

Note from asker:
I thought about that, but found out with a bit of research that the American Consulate in Vienna was closed in 1938 and didn't reopen until after the war.
Peer comment(s):

agree Björn Vrooman : "After the Anschluss of 1938 incorporated Austria into Nazi Germany, the U.S. Legation in Vienna was closed and became a Consulate General. The Vienna Consulate General was closed July 9, 1941..." It's 1940, so I don't see the problem.

agree uyuni : That's what I thought. Until the 'Anschluss' it was the US embassy in Austria's capital and became just a consulate afterwards...

I didn't get your comment. Just seems a bit ironic...
