arbre encroué

French to English Tech/Engineering Forestry / Wood / Timber
In a manual about felling in forests.

From what I understand, an arbre encroué is a tree that is tangled up in another tree due to one of the trees falling. The definitions are easy to find in French, e.g.:

But I can't find a translation for this in English. Is there a technical term for this phenomenon in English?

If people felling trees for a living call "arbre encroué" the tree that was cut but got entangled while falling down, I would tend to listen to them rather to a general purpose dictionary.

According to your Larousse link, it has two quite different meanings: a tree tangled with another as it falls, or one onto which another has fallen.

hung-up From my NZ background I'm familiar with 'hung-up' (and with the more mundane 'hung-over', of course.
"A hung-up tree is a cut-up, wind-thrown, or pushed tree that is caught up or lodged against another tree, which prevents it from falling. (A cut-up tree is one where felling cuts have been made but the tree remains standing.) Attempting to bring down a hung-up tree is the leading cause of fatal injuries in tree felling."

I think it may be a lodged tree - and it can also be referred to as a hung-up tree.

Inosculated / Conjoined

Could One of these be a good term for you to use? i would go with "Inosculation" if this is exactly what you need, alternatively, "conjoined" is a more general way to describe this phenomenon, which could work if "Inosculated" is not exactly the case.

disagree Daryo : There is some distant similarities, but "un arbre encroué" is an unwanted accident while the inosculation is either a natural occurrence or a deliberate manipulation by humans.

a "hang-up"

30 years in NZ forestry and that's what we call them, they are a real pain and make felling ten times more dangerous.
Example sentence:
