Applied to a pump, désamorçage means draining or (according to my vocab database) "depriming". I'm not sure what it means in relation to a seal. Clearly the point being made here (the prohibition) is quite specific: it refers to a situation where other devices are connected to the same downpipe.

If soil pipes are incorrectly configured - notably in the case of no venting - when you flush one toilet, the movement of water down the pipe creates a vacuum within the pipe that sucks water out of another P-trap/U-bend connected to it.
'joint hydraulique' means the seal of water in the bend.
This came up not to long ago under 'siphonage' if memory serves.

Coming across désamorçage for the first time. However, in the context, I think damaged should work.

| Thanks. Yes, it *could* be that but for me at least that would be guessing. In TLFi we see this à propos of use of this word relative to a pump: "Vider une pompe de son eau pour empêcher le piston de fonctionner." So perhaps not entirely able to be surmised... |
