Discussion

Ramak Milani Jun 26, 2022:
We do not know much about the context whether it is written, or it is a speech; therefore, you can decide on which word to use based on the situation/context. I have been seeing so many translations which are literally correct but naturally so weird and unfortunately the asker has accepted the answer that was provided. Presented or awarded are better choices to me than conferred!
Alireza Amini Jun 26, 2022:
Clarification In this context, different verbs are applicable and quite natural to use. You may use award, grant, and confer as you can see all of these terms are frequently used in certificates issued by different universities in English-speaking countries. So, I think it is your personal choice which one to favour.
Sophie Meis (asker) Jun 26, 2022:
Awarded to or conferred upon? Which one is more accurate? Awarded to or conferred upon?

This diploma is presented to.....

Present someone with something sounds more formal, however the words "awarded, provided, or even given" are all correct.
