Conservatoria dei Registri Immobiliari VS Catasto

Non-PRO Italian to English Law/Patents Real Estate Certificate of ownership
In a certificate drawn up by a notary declaring ownership of a property, the notary states "esaminati i documenti e consultati i Registri del Catasto e della Conservatoria dei Registri Immobiliari competenti,"

I'm having trouble differentiating between Conservatoria dei Registri Immobiliari and Catasto as from what I can find, they are both generally translated as Land Registry. Would anyone know how to differentiate the two in English? Or perhaps I should just write Land Registry once and leave it as that? Thanks in advance for your suggestions!

Land Registry and Cadestre

"Land Registries and Cadastre are different institutions. The Land Registries are the offices where information relating to real estate is registered and becomes public. The Cadastre is a public S.A. with a main role to conduct land surveys, provide cadastral data as well as legal information relating to real estate".

Deeds (or Property) Registry AND Land Registry

I have come across this issue in another language. I think England does not differentiate between land registers and property registers, while Italy requires the land as well as the property deed to be registered through separate registers/bodies.

In Italy, the Catasto (Cadaster) is the land registry which contains graphical, census and administrative data on properties throughout most of the country¹. The Catasto is divided into two parts: one covers urban properties, the other covers rural land. The Catasto is used primarily for tax purposes.

THE DEEDS REGISTRY
A separate deeds registry, the banca dati ipotecaria, contains information on property ownership, indicating who has or had legal rights to a property, including mortgage liens and other limitations on ownership. Somewhat confusingly this registry is often referred to by a series of alternative names:
registri Immobiliari – “PROPERTY REGISTRIES”, derived from when separate manual registries were maintained across the country.

Land Registry Department vs. Land Survey (BrE Index Map/IrE Ordnance Survey) Office

I agree with Paul O'B's land surveys, but have never thought that - contrary to UK land lawyers referring to civil-law 'cadastral' systems and certain ProZ recondites - cadastre cadaster or even Land Registry (Garzanti) meant much. In fact, in 4 decades of UK land conveyancing and index map searches, I have never encountered the term in 'English'.

Ireland: 'Ordnance Survey Ireland is the Irish State's National Mapping Agency, essential to the infrastructural development of the country.'

UK: an Index Map search is based on the Ordnance Survey and is routinely made to see whether a propert (land + building) has been land- regd.

Qual è la differenza fra il Catasto e la Conservatoria?

I passaggi di proprietà degli immobili vengono comunicati sia al Catasto che alla Conservatoria. Il Catasto però ha scopi solo fiscali, e poiché non sempre i notai comunicano ad esso i passaggi di proprietà, quest’ufficio è più indicato quando si vogliono conoscere, attraverso una visura catastale, i dati per ricavare l’importo di IMU, Irpef ecc.

Il ruolo della Conservatoria è invece proprio quello di registrare i passaggi di proprietà, ed è sempre aggiornata su compravendite, ipoteche, pignoramenti, ecc.. Se si vuole verificare la proprietà di un immobile è più corretto effettuare un'ispezione ipotecaria, accedendo così alla banca dati della Conservatoria.
