French term

tour de parole

French to English Law/Patents Law (general)
SWISS French legalese. Some of the language here is a bit odd.

This is a case about alleged corruption of "foreign public agents".

This would appear to be a "round of speaking" in which each counsel has the chance to plead. I googled on phrases like "round of speaking" to no effect. "Round of pleading" gets some hits.

turn taken in order of speeches / of addresses to the court /

- rather than the Tower of Babel or Babble and often these days in the courts of England + Wales, pidgin English gabble.

It's surprising that a blank is drawn in Bridge's glossary, though a KudoZ glossary entry comes up incongruously with a 'betting round'.
Example sentence:

The judge before whom an action is tried (whether with or without a jury) may give directions as to the party to begin and the order of speeches .

Oz: Directions as to the order in which evidence is to be given and addresses made: s 62(1). (This subsection is duplicated by r 29.5);

round of presentations

'A tour de rôle' --> one after the other / each in turn

tour de parole --> round of presentations (i.e. a complete set of presentations made in each 'tour de rôle'.
Peer comment(s):

agree philgoddard : Or submissions, or pleadings.

neutral AllegroTrans : Right idea but "presentation" whilst fine for a meeting or symposium, is not used by courts and lawyers

(on hearing) oral submissions

These seem to be oral submissions by the parties "in turn"

For "Lors du deuxième tour de parole" I would be inclined to say "On hearing final oral submissions"
Peer comment(s):

neutral Jennifer Levey : The penultimate para of the question very strongly suggests that the 'deuxième tour de parole' was not the 'final' oral submissions.

OK I agree, but that part of my suggestion was an"add on"
