Sophie Meis (asker) Aug 25, 2021:
next of kin (NOK) "A person's next of kin (NOK) is that person's closest living blood relative. Some countries, such as the United States, have a legal definition of "next of kin". In other countries, such as the United Kingdom, "next of kin" may have no legal definition and may not necessarily refer to blood relatives at all." (Wikipedia)

In the event of someone’s death, next of kin may also be used to describe the person or people who stand to inherit the most. This is usually the spouse or civil partner, but it could also be their children or parents in certain circumstances.

When someone dies without leaving a will, their next of kin stands to inherit most of their estate. Exactly who inherits first, and how much they inherit, is defined by a set of laws in England and Wales called the rules of intestacy.

In order of priority, this is who inherits under the rules of intestacy:

NEXT OF KIN

(A) This term is used to signify the relations of a party who has died intestate. 2. In general no one comes within this term who is not included in the provisions of the statutes of distribution. A wife cannot, in general, claim as next of kin of her husband, nor a husband as next of kin of his wife. But when there are circumstances in a will which induce a belief of an intention to include them under this term, they will be so considered, though in the ordinary sense of the word, they are not.

در حقوق، اگر شخصی فوت شود اموال او به next of kin می‌شد.

در ابتدا اموال او به «بستگان درجه یک» می‌رسد.

اگر بستگان درجه یک نداشته باشد،
next of kin
بستگان درجه دو محسوب می‌شود و اموال به آن ها می‌رسد.
