Deethanizer First Configuration
Company’s recovery section is unlike the conventional approach of a deethanizer first configuration for gas feedstock crackers and a depropanizer first configuration for liquids feedstock crackers.
Instead, Linde’s product recovery section is configured as deethanizer-first process for both gas and liquids crackers.
The front end deethanizer system is one of the most distinguishing characteristics of the Linde olefin process.
The front end deethanizer is the first fractionation step in the cold process section and separates all C2 and lighter components from propylene and heavier components.
The deethanizer system is comprised of two columns: a C3 absorber operating at cracked gas pressure and a subsequent main distillation column operating at lower pressure.
The advantage of using front-end deethanizer is that all heavy hydrocarbons present in the cracked gas stream are separated out upstream of the low temperature section of the plant.
In this way the cold box and demethanizer are not exposed to these heavier hydrocarbons.
