Swedish term

centrum för sina intressen

Swedish to English Law/Patents Law (general) custody law
it is a case of a parent moving to another country with a child they have custody over

... avsåg att etablera sig och för en överskådlig tid ha centrum för sina intressen där
...har önskat att etablera centrum för sina intressen i denna medlemstat

I understand the meaning, was just wondering if there is a special term for this in English.

Discussion

Christopher Schröder Mar 3, 2017:
What on earth is a centre for your interests in either language????
Thomas Johansson Mar 3, 2017:
It's not idiomatic Swedish. It's a calque from the English phrase "centre of his interests"...

"Interest" definition

A legal definition for "center of interest" has proven elusive for this searcher, but focusing on the term "interest" alone has yielded the following result: interest can apply in a financial context, as in an amount charged to someone who borrows money, or in a property context, as in "a right, title or estate to personal or real property." In the context of a legal case: "INTEREST, evidence. The benefit which a person has in the matter about to be decided and which is in issue between the parties."
