In the US, guardianship is related to minors ... same idea but involves legal capacity as well as mental capacity.
To my US ears this corresponds to conservatorship and deals with court orders related to mental capacity.

I can't think of circumstances in the UK when such proof would be routinely required, so probably there is no handy term, unlike for instance the criminal records checks (CRB or now DBS) which rapidly acquired a name and an acronym or two.
