PREPARACIÓN ÓPTIMA DEL SUELO
El suelo deberá estar limpio del cultivo anterior, bien mullido y libre de terrones.
Se le dará pases de topos, gradas o cultivador, a una profundidad mínima de 35-45 cm con el fin de facilitar la penetración del producto, y pases de rotovator con el objetivo de allanar el terreno y facilitar su distribución, relativamente húmedo (con tempero), y con suficiente temperatura con la finalidad de aumentar la efectividad sobre los patógenos.

Most tractor mounted cultivation tools will break up and turn over surface soil to a depth of 15–20 cm (6–8 in) while a subsoiler will break up and loosen soil to twice those depths.

I've just discovered that it is also called a 'mole plough'. 'Pases' comes from 'pasar', as in 'pasar la máquina'.

: I think "pases" are also called "passes" in English, as in first, second, third, pass with the plough. Saludos.

Thank you Robert :-) I come from Kent and our house was surrounded by fields. I was trying to remember what we used to say and 'They've been ploughing; they've ploughed the field, etc.' is all that comes to mind.

: In heavy construction, it is common to speak of making a number of passes with a piece of machinery - after laying down asphalt pavement, they make 3 passes with a steelwheel roller to compact it, etc.
