Spanish term

M.I. and Cédula Identificadora

Spanish to English Other Certificates, Diplomas, Licenses, CVs Birth Certificate
En un certificado de nacimiento de Argentina de 1988, aparecen estos dos términos:

M.I. y cédula identificadora

Agradecería saber qué es la diferencia entre estos dos conceptos, así como su traducción al inglés para diferenciar entre los dos. Gracias de antemano por la ayuda.

Whenever I post an answer I always assume the asker has previously looked for the term here, which is why I didn't look first. I knew the answer but I was looking for references when I discovered there were loads of entries.

Individual Registration and ID Card

M.I. is the student's registration number and 'cédula identificadora' corresponds to the national ID Card.

Sorry! I've just realised that you're talking about a birth certificate. I'm afraid I saw 'certificates and diplomas' at the top of the page and stopped reading. I need to do further research.

It's well explained here, but I'm still not sure how to translate it.

You will find many answers here on ProZ. Just go to the term search and type M.I./C.I.

My suggestion of Individual Registration and ID Card seems to be correct.

Maybe you could add 'Obligatory Individual Registration No.' to differentiate between the two.
