Greek term

ΔΔΥΕΠ-Ε.

Greek to English Medical Medical: Pharmaceuticals In top right-hand corner of pharmaceutical product product licence documents
Also, it would help if you could help me translate "Δ.ΔΥΕΠ". The text in which it appears is, "Η ΑΝΑΠΛΗΡΩΤΡΙΑ ΠΡΟΪΣΤΑΜΕΝΗ Δ.ΔΥΕΠ". I think ΔΔΥΕΠ is Directorate of Public Health Supervision, but I need to confirm this. This is the above the signature on a document appertaining to an E.O.F. product licence of a pharmaceutical product.

Discussion

Peter Close (asker) Sep 30, 2012:
Elena, I have translated many similar EOF product licences, too, but mainly for animal health or disinfectant products and my previous clients were neither interested nor concerned about the ΔΔΥΕΠ-Ε in the top right corners of the pages. However, now that I am translating licences for human health products for the clients of translation agencies, it would be very useful for me to know, too, what the final E stands for. So, if you are able to help Dave, you will be helping me, too, provided, of course, that you reply to him in a way that I can see your explanation as well.
Dave Bindon Sep 29, 2012:
E! Elena, please enlighten me about the E if you can. I've translated documents from the same department before, so ΔΔΥΕΠ was easy. However, whilst I can see how I originally treated the final E of ΔΔΥΕΠ-E.1234-5/6 (and how I've treated it ever since!) I no longer have a clue how I arrived at my decision (which was an L). Any ideas?
Elena Petelos Sep 29, 2012:
:) Hopefully you have also noticed a number after the... infamous "E", which seems to have puzzled Dave Bindon. ;-)
Peter Close (asker) Sep 29, 2012:
Silly me. I now notice that I had translated the text in precisely the same words that Dave Bindon suggested when the words were written in full under the address of E.O.F., but had failed to recognise that the abbreviation had refferred to that Directorate. So as we English say, "Great minds think alike". However, although we think alike, we may not always be correct!
Peter Close (asker) Sep 29, 2012:
Thank you everyone for your help. Now a message to Dave Bindon: I would have had to cancel today, too, because I was sent a 3,000 + word text to do urgently, lat night.

Answered before The meaning in Greek is, of course, Διεύθυνση Διοικητικών Υπηρεσιών Ελέγχου Προϊόντων. In terms of how to best translate/render the meaning, a number of options can be found here: http://www.proz.com/kudoz/greek_to_english/government_politi...
