Czech term

v.s.

Czech to English Medical Medical (general) Discharge summary

Discussion

Gerry Vickers Nov 24, 2011:
Dylan A couple of Czech doctors have told me that - correctly it is as below, but they (at least the ones I know) tend to use it as in 'suspected' - hence my suggestion.
Dylan Edwards Nov 24, 2011:
OK, I see Scott has an idea about that: the v.s. goes with what follows.
Dylan Edwards Nov 24, 2011:
Could it stand for "velmi suspektivně"? Who knows whether it's Czech or Latin?

And how does v.s. link up with the rest of it? - this seems to be the asker's real concern here.
Scott Evan Andrews Nov 24, 2011:
I noticed that after further research Jan, thanks : to do it all again, I'd have intensively studied Latin, never too late
jankaisler Nov 24, 2011:
English has more words with the root/part "veri" derived from Latin word "veritas", e. g. "verisimilitude" - semblence of being true (Oxford Advanced Learner's Dict.)

"veri similis" means similar to truth/pravděpodbný

"veri" (veritas) and "very" are false friends

I think that is indeed what the doc meant, that it is highly probable that it is caused by that medicine Euphyllin - and dyspepsia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dyspepsia) is indeed a possible side effect of this medicine (http://home.intekom.com/pharm/byk/euphylin.html)
