Well the manufacturer thinks he should... They think the driver should know about problems with the system while driving - that's why he gets those warnings.

Why should the driver care How the braking works - enough for him to know that it does work OK or has a problem and should have it fixed by the respective technician.

The thing is, it's supposed to be a single word that appears (in different warnings) on the driver's instrument panel. It's not so common in trucks today so I couldn't find a Hebrew equivalent. Renault, for example, is using it in its trucks.

Not aware of a HE term The Hebrew Language Academy is probably still working on this. I think that in slang it is רגנרציה. It is about generating usable energy from the kinetic energy lost in braking - as opposed to dissipative braking - when the kinetic energy is transformed into plain heat (in the braking pads and disk or drum).
