In one Syriac (approx. end of the 7th c.) manuscript I am currently working with, occur three words written in Greek (by a hand of the same time) on a flyleaf. I will appreciate deeply any suggestion about their meaning:
αθεδελατων
τομερεμελατων
τελεδαργων

mean nothing in Greek
These are not true Greek words of any period but rather appear to be Greek transliterations of Syriac (Aramaic) words.
Note from asker:
You are right, Joseph, those words are not Greek. Neither they are Syriac or Aramaic (I know myself Syriac and I have enquired in a special Aramaic group). |
Discussion
Could it be a transcription of Syriac into Greek?
Or an adaptation of Syriac family names into Greek?
