So I know what it IS, but my mind is at a blank when it comes to thinking of an English term for it! Any ideas?

Discussion

Scott Evan Andrews Jul 24, 2009:
what it is actually, just like when asthmatic children used to go into the caves near Macocha to breathe the air for a couple hours, is a combination of convalescence and rehabilitation in the ultimate effort to cure or curb their particular problems.
Scott Evan Andrews Jul 24, 2009:
I'm more of a mind to call it something else, but that English translation is a WHO text, and I've always tended to rely on their translations as a good reference source - I'd consider their translation of this term as irrefutable.
Gerry Vickers (asker) Jul 24, 2009:
A sort of milder and more official term for 'boot camp', perhaps? :)

health, fitness and recreational camp

Example sentence:

The YMCA has huge range of Health, Fitness and Recreation programs.

Note from asker:
Although the WHO might have their preferred version, I am going to choose this one as it is exactly what it is - I need to send this one off now, so the points are yours when the 24 hours are up. Thanks!

4 KudoZ points awarded for this answer. Comment: "Thanks Mischa - this is what I was looking for and fits the context well."

The apps.who.int...file is the English version
Note from asker:
Even though this may be how somebody has translated it, in the context of the piece that I am translating just now, health and the improvement thereof has to come into it somewhere, otherwise it wouldn't make sense :) It may be recreational, but it is more than this...

Note from asker:
'Convalescent' implies that the child/adolescent had to be ill to start with, which I don't think is (always) the case ...

youth camp

Another option for you to ponder over :)) I think "Youth Camp" would be quite appropriate.
