YIKES! I have been teaching English for a few years, but my experience is limited to private one-to-one lessons or a couple of very small classes (max. 3 people!) where I had to follow a programme that had been given to me by the private school I was working for. Now I have been offered a REAL class, i.e. 14 kids (19 year olds), who in 30 hours must learn something about business English, marketing etc. any suggestions? I am also supposed to use audio and video supports (even cd-roms) – but I do not even know which books to get!!! By the way, I am in Italy, so the students have a rather basic knowledge of English… I have received precise instructions to avoid too much grammar and focus on the practical aspects of business English… I’m quite scared but also interesting in facing the challenge! I have time until the end of September to get everything ready…any help will be GREATLY appreciated!

Check out Prentice Hall International's Business Management English. They have books and cassettes for teaching this type of English. I found a site (http://www.ebi.es/biblioteca/biblioteca.asp) but it's in Spanish.

Dear lanzarotti, you've got over two months to get ready - in the meantime, I'll be looking into the issue and so will others, I'm sure. We'll help you.
Best wishes, Kim

Each chapter deals with one task, provides an example of how to complete it, explains how to approach the question (layout, identifying, grouping and ordering relevant information, writing the answer).
Hope you find it useful,
